Some KA24DE questions

Post by skippyelwell »

1973 2 dr 510 - 1992-3 240sx ka24de

I have a couple of questions at the moment but I know I will have more as I progress in this swap, hope you guys will share your know how with me.

How crucial is the throttle body heating from the coolant passage on the bottom of the TB to the tune from the ECU?
I ask because I swapped in the coolant outlet and alternator mounts from the earlier single cam KA to end up with one belt and there is not much room left for the heater hose that feeds the the TB.

On the 240sx alternator which terminal is the charge light?

Do you have the plug to the alternator? The colors match the 510 harness wiring colors.

Look at the body of the alternator or the body of the connector - the two terminals should be labelled S and L

S is the voltage sense terminal

L is the lamp terminal

I don't have the alternator plug, that was missing when I got the engine, also, the PO of the 510 got into the wiring harness and removed everything to do with alternator.
I check the housing and nothing is cast into it and no stickers, I guess I could run 2 wires from the alt and try each one, 50% chance of getting right on the 1st try. It would be nice to know before hand so I can wrap the harness up.

I have a Single cam, so it voulf be a wee bit different. I eliminated the TB coolant passages/by passed them because all they did was go NEAR my intake. not even through it and then back into circulation. Useless. "deleted" it and cleaned up my intake side! slick id' say.

Shouldnt effect ECU, all the TB passage does is warm the air on colder starts or something
