280 5 speed swap in a 510
280 5 speed swap in a 510
what is the length of the driveshaft need to be im going with the longer 280 trans in a 510?
Re: 280 5 speed swap in a 510
You’ll need to shorten the sedan driveshaft 4 7/8” if everything else (motor location, diff) are in their original locations.
Hope this helps.

I wrote this down years ago. Stock sedan 42.9/16" shortened for zx 5 speed 37 3/8" or 5.2775" different.
I've measured the stock 4 speeds at 26" and the zx 5 speeds are 31.5, so 5.5" difference.
Make of this what you will.

Personally, I'd install the trans then measure for correct shaft length.

Talk to the drive line specialist to find out what he needs to know in order to build it.
