Stock l16 engine/mounts sits too far forward?

Post by metalincarnate »

Hello mates, I recently got my shit together and found an l16 motor to put in my Datto. I was installing the engine and all seemed well when I noticed that it looks as though it sits too far forward. With the radiator mocked up the stock clutch fan would never fit. I've done a fair bit of searching and image referencing but cannot find the culprit. Are there different brackets I am not aware of Any help is appreciated thanks! Images for reference..

The only thing I can think of is the motor mounts are swapped, L and R. I can't see how that would make a negligible difference. I have compared some truck engine mounts and they seem to be taller(Thicker) than what is on there now. I have also compared another set of mount brackets but they appear the same. Ill do some more digging for extra mounts tomorrow but I'm at a loss..

Clutch fan was only used with the optional air conditioning.

L16/18 L20B will all work but you need the 1600/510 oil pan.

Possibly the L&R rubber isolators under the engine brackets are swapped. If the single stud going into the engine brackets are slightly off set to the rear normally they would be off set to the front if swapped.

Engine brackets look correct.

The radiator is completely weird. How would you ever get the top hose on there???? even if the engine was moved to the rear?

You can try to swap the engine rubber mounts left to right and right to left, but I don't think that will help since the part number is the same for either left or right. 11220-A3500

The radiator is wrong. the 510 radiator fill is on the top of the tank, not offset to the rear like your pictures.

I agree the radiator is probably the biggest issue here.
