Carburetor identification

Post by littlewagon »

I was going to ask for pointers on how to correctly identify my Hitachi carburetor, so I can get the correct rebuild kit to freshen it up.
It's on my 1981 510 wagon with the Z20 engine. It is also the original carb.

The Nissan rebuild kit is 16391-W8960 for the '81 A10. You may be able to cross reference this part number to another maker.

All kits are listed by what vehicle, model and year they are used on. Kits often have extra parts and cover multiple models and years. The thing that makes your carburetor different is not going to be changed. It flows air and gasoline so not much to rebuild from wear as there are very few moving parts. Dirt is the biggest cause of poor performance, that and somebody adjusting them or rebuilding them and assembling them improperly. Gaskets get old but almost always can be carefully removed and re-used.

High wear item is the accelerator pump seal.

The rest is cleaning and settings.
