So called professional painter did not put enough base color on. As a result paint had light and dark streaks in it. I decided if you want it done right then do it yourself and I will never trust anyone to paint any of my cars again. 2 hours before car was painted this afternoon.

Damn right!!! Everybody and their dog is a 'profesional' these days. Speaking of dogs, did you know they have profesional dog walkers? Throw me a friggin' bone will ya. Like the word sale, totally meaningless. If you can, learn how to do it yourself. Two things will result from this...

Great satisfaction and the admiration of friends who recognise a well done job.

Slight embarasment that you are fast becoming a profesional painter.

Seriously, great job and colour choice!

Looking good. Hope to get mine in to paint in the next couple weeks, once the guy whos doing it shop clears up a little bit. I would probably try it myself, if i had access to the right tools. But i am going to kind of be his apprentice while he is painting my car so hopefully i can learn and maybe even do it myself.

nice!

I kinda like the "professional" job though, it kind of makes it look like its been a while since it was painted.

Eh Terry,

Nothing is better than that wet looking, fresh paint; Never seen dust, never seen a wash, not even been in the sun. I've done this enough times now that when I see a picture like your first posts, I can smell that new paint!
I, too, have not had too much luck with "professionals". This is why I also choose to do my own work. I'm sure that there are many who can do better, but nothing gives you the satisfaction of doing a complete car yourself. For those that have not tried, you'll never feel the accomplishment and pride of knowing that it is your work - that's worth a lot ot me.

I totally agree with Byron that masked freshly painted cars look awesome -- nothing but clean shiny surfaces. I was lucky and had a very good friend (who also happened to be a "professional"), paint my car while I watched. Between the 2 of us we put ~120 hours into the body of my car, so I get that "did it myself" feeling without needing any sort of painting skills!
