My current project...

Post by datsunfreak »

Took this photo last night.

It has a Z22E, 280ZX 5 speed, 280ZX suspension/brakes, 16x7 Motegi wheels, and more mods (and money invested) than I'd like to think about. :P

Also John, if you want to start a gallery for your 510 you can do so, check out the 'sticky' post in the general forum for details!

Green with envy.............

Very nice, I especially like your choice of wheels.(love the polished edge)

They don't seem to have much "offset", what kind of spacers are you running?? suspension??(coil overs??)

Bottom-end balanced to 7000rpm, WISECO forged pistons with floating pins, NISMO steel headgasket, o-ringed block with copper wire o-rings, mildly ported & polished head, mild (turbo) cam, etc... You know, the basics

It was built with the intention of being turbocharged, but it's been so much fun N/A that it's taken awhile to get off my butt and do the turbo conversion. Right now it has a de-smogged truck intake with a 38/38 Weber, but I have all the bits to do the EFI swap. That should be done before spring.

Behind the engine is a lightened flywheel, CenterForce clutch, and 280ZX transmission (gotta love that 0.75 5th).

The wheels are 16x7 (couldn't get 7.5" to fit :P ). To get them to fit and clear the struts I used ARP 2.5" wheels studs (made for a 3rd-gen Camaro), and custom hubcentric spacers. The front is 280ZX struts (KYB)/brakes (Hawk pads) with 1" spacers. The rear is stock brakes (Hawk shoes) and an adjustable crossmember with 3/4" spacers. They seem to fit nicely and best of all they don't stick out. 8)

The rear shocks are KYB also. It has ST springs all around and to help stiffen things up a bit it has Quickor adjustble sway bars F&R.

There's probably a million other things I'm forgetting... and it changes from week to week.

I also forgot to mention my favorite mod so far, the Vintage Air R134a air conditioning system. Not really a worthwhile mod to you guys in the frozen North, but crucial down here in the blazing hot Texas summers... 8)
