I have seen a discussion about this somewhere in the 510 universe, but the old brain does not recall the conclusion or where that was. :(

Maybe Ratsun?

Here is a picture of the engine bay, you can clearly see the rubber strip..not sure if it was factory. This car is now in Vancouver.

The idea of that strip was to NOT let air from the engine bay flow out the back of the hood, but, forcing it down and under the car. Most of us do not run one at all for what that is worth.

🤯 Wow!! That car looks new!! Thanks for the pic, Keith!

I never had one before so I figured it wasn't too critical but I bought the strip when I bought my other rubber bits so I might as well toss it on there. That one looks like it's facing forward so that's one tick ✅ in the "forward" column & Owen's guess is one tick ✅ in the "windshield" column. I'll keep digging til I find out for certain since it has to be glued in place.

In other news, I have new armrests coming! Yay! Once I get those, maybe people will quit ripping my window crank off! :?

The biggest thing to actually help cooling, is make sure the radiator is sealed up all around the edges.
Air will bypass anywhere it can and you want it to be GOING THROUGH the rad.

Any extraneous holes at the front could be discretely covered also. It all does help!

Check out what I got! Arm rests! Yay! Now maybe my passengers will quit ripping my window crank off!

And on the 28th (Oct), I was on my way to a Halloween event and the Datsun crapped out! It just totally lost power and didn't want to go. I coasted to the side of the road & called my husband for a tow. I got out of the car because it's a 2 lane highway & I didn't want to get plowed into while sitting in the car as I waited. Several cars slowed down, presumably to ask if I needed help but when I turned to look at them, they sped away! Moral, of the story, grown-ups are literally still scared of monsters!

The points went bad so that's what caused the trouble. I got towed home & all is well.

I DO need a stock fan since mine is in sad shape! What can I expect to pay for one? Are they unobtanium, like everything else?

Sorry to hear about the points/distributor troubles...maybe you could consider something like this?

Thanks for the suggestion! I didn't know there was still an EI made for the L! I'll have to do a little more research.

I've got a fan for you. I'll have to dig it out. Think I paid $45 for it?

Bradicuss hooked me up with a nice fan so I'm all set again!

And with the Christmas season upon us, I have to show off the shirt I designed& printed! Santa has a sweet ride, if I do say so myself!
