Thanks guys!

Another small project completed recently. I wanted to mount some 6x9" speakers in the rear package tray area, but I didn't want to cut any sheet metal to do it...I also didn't want to see the speakers through the back window. My original package tray was in terrible shape, but just good enough to make a rough pattern from it. I took some measurements of my speakers so I knew how high I needed to make the panel sit. I wanted to keep it as low as possible, but with enough room to bottom mount the speakers. I cut some other pieces of wood for the "legs" or standoffs, to get the right height. I made it so the magnet of the speaker just barely pokes into the original holes in the sheet metal. I used some 1/4" plywood I had lying around the shop, measured and marked where the speakers would mount, and drilled what felt like a thousand small holes, for the audio to pass through. I countersunk all of the mounting screws so they wouldn't be seen through the fabric it would be covered with. Painted it black, mounted the speakers, and covered the entire panel with some speaker fabric. I used some simple L brackets and attached it to the car with 4 bolts, in preexisting holes, 2 of which were already threaded.

While I'm sure it would not suffice for an audiophile, it sounds just fine to me.

I think that is an awesome way to have done that! Good job.

I've always wanted an OEM tachometer, but I didn't like the idea of paying what I've seen a lot being sold for. I came across this one for what I thought was a decent price with the entire cluster, so I went ahead and picked it up, got it all wired up and installed. A little concerned that the speedometer may not work properly, judging by the way it's resting on 15mph, but I don't have a speedometer cable installed right now anyway.

Like the package tray solution and hope your speedo behaves itself.

Speedo was probably overhauled by Rebello.
