Cavanaughsa16 wrote: 23 Feb 2021 12:33 Yeah it’s got like 70k miles on it and I’d rather not dump it but if I end up dumping it where do you think I could find a fully build s13 or 14 KA in California for under 2k because it’s becoming a pain in the ass, I’m in the SF area

I’ve put a lot of work into it and I’d rather not carb it because like greenthumb said I’m upgrading to modern engine to get away from all that. I’ll take some time to think about it but I definitely am open to finding an S13 or 14 KA
Maybe the intake manifolds swap? That might help simplify that issue. Pan is just fab work. I wish I could remember back to the frontier engine I worked on. It may have had the car intake manifold. So many years ago I can't remember.

Mike maybe you remember. It was the guy in Puyallup with the 620.

So it’s lookin like the S13 intake will bolt right on and then that just leaves the oil pan. Do I need tot air the whole thing off, cut it and re-weld it?

If you use the car intake you will still need to sort out the dizzy wiring. Since it can't be swapped.

Yeah pan needs to be cut. I saw one at canby where they notched the rear of the pan so the stock crossmember and crosslink would clear.

You should just give me that engine for my D21 and buy an SR. :)

So if I can just use the S13 intake and one of the can am boxes you made for the wiring. And then notch the pan it should turn out fine right XD

GOtta figure out the dizzy wiring. I did it once. Not sure if I still have my notes. I'm not as good about that as 510rob.....

Hey hopefully if you’ve got a second to skim over this thread, I don’t know if the intake swap is possible... it’s definitely far fetched. http://www.ka-t.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=61722

But I’ll hold on to my motor and see what I can do in the future and if this swap becomes easily doable it’ll make for a good option as the last of the 240 KA’s bite the dust.

I’m still looking for a KA though if anyone has one for sale!

Ok so I got my S13 intake all fitted on there with the throttle body (which could use some cleaning) and it bolts right up no problem!

Now I just have to persuade my oil pan 🙈

As for the wiring i believe that the Can am system that Icehouse figured out is going to work smoothly now that the S13 intake and throttle body are on!

Here is a photo of the S13 intake on the truck KA

If the S13 DE intake will swap over with all of the necessary components, contact Wiring Specialties for a pretty much plug & play engine harness. I would think that the intake components are what needs to be addressed.......?? Personally, we don't wire any swaps up ourselves, as the labor to do it, lacking the experience, far outweighs the plug & play simplicity of the WS harnesses. Sure, the more swaps you do (or the LOVE of electrical work  ), you get better & faster, but we don't always have that spare time required! :D
