For the attachment of the valance, did you use bolt/nut combo or install weld nuts on the core support?

Looking good. All your attention to detail in the preparation of the shell is really paying off.

Thanks Stu. Almost 4 years to get to this point!; but the damn pandemic set me back on my plan. Can’t wait to get working on again at home! The wiring you did on your car is awesome…great posts on that!

Hey Owen, I can’t wait to see your Apex Engineered suspension installed! I thought my car was only going to be in the body shop for 2 months…but it turned into 7 months! Good luck on your P&B work! Now on to the fun stuff. 8)

Hey Iceman510, Thank you! I am fairly certain the valance used some bolts and may have been tack welded back on where there were spot welds. On the splitter, they drilled holes in the lower valance and installed bolts with washers and nuts. Any suggestions? We are going to remove it to put it on the tow truck … I’ll look at that closer this week.

No suggestions. If you remove the stock welds, it basically looks like there are holes already there for utilizing bolts to reattach it. Maybe they were factory alignment holes though.

I am considering putting a fiberglass version on my race car and might consider weld nuts on the core support. Just curious if the body shop had done that or you had requested it. Bolting I'm sure works fine, just have to reach in with the other hand.

Hey Rush, thank you, the color is Chrysler - Hemi Orange Paint code: PLC. It has a small metallic flake in it. We‘ll get glamour shots one day
I made out a list of work to be done and it is staggering — am going to set a goal to have it done within 6 months. Putting the in the steering column, exhaust plumbing, and brake lines are the next big jobs.

Iceman510, I verified they did not put the spot welds back and used bolts to attach the lower valance to the core support. I am going to change the hardware out; but each spot weld drilled out has a bolt / nut. For the lower splitter, with it being fiberglass, it has more flex than I like and am going to add some aluminum straps to add rigidity so the bolts don’t break through the fiber glass. It was loosely bolted on at the body shop but needs reinforcement. I may adjust the fitment… TBD…

New Year’s Resolution - FINISH THIS!

Post by 72ultraorange »

Time for an update — New Year’s Resolution - FINISH THIS!

Over the past few months I have completed a few things; got hung up on a few others; but I am going to finish this in 2024! Ready to get this rolling!

Items completed:
- Installed Pedal Box
- Installed Master Cylinders
- Installed Brake and Clutch Pedals
- Installed Rear and Mid Sections of Exhaust
- Painted and Installed the steering column / Test fit new steering wheel and hub adapter
- Test Fit TSR Intercooler
- Installed Spark Plugs - NGX Iridium IX BKR8EIX
- Installed transmission yoke dust cover — which required removing the drive shaft (forgot it on assembly day)
- Reinstalled all the bolts on the transmission crossmember
- Installed new bolts on the drive shaft connection to the differential

Got some deals on Black Friday sales and ordered most of the electronics to get this running and boosted!:
- Haltech ECU and Wideband Controller
- Greddy Boost Controller
- Wiring Specialties Wiring Harness
- Injector Dynamics Injectors
- Smart Coil Packs
- SR20 Accelerator Cable
- AC Compressor Brackets

Working on:
- Modification to the stock accelerator pedal to adapt to SR20 Cable
- Brake lines / plumbing
- Installation of exhaust manifold, downpipe, turbo, wastegate
- Spec plumbing for turbo, intake manifold, heater core

Issues:
- E-brake cable loop in contact with exhaust :?
- The radiator hose solution for the cowl drain is not going to work - looking for another solution
- Undercoating / powder coating / paint in threads of many installation points - some requiring tap and die
- The AC condenser coil will need to be installed inside the fan shroud to avoid hitting the main pulleys - requires mods to fan shroud/radiator
- Will need new holes drilled for radiator installation

The build is looking amazing... I've got to go through your whole thread again soon as I push forward with mine.

I considered the DP racing pedal setup... but mine is in perfect condition and was powder coated by the PO... so sticking with it and went with the Datsport booster and a new 7/8 inch master cylinder.

I'll post an update in my thread soon. I'm also very committed to 2024 being my run year - hoping for a late spring / early summer go live.
Regards,
Owen
