Carpet choices 2022..?

Post by cartel »

just was on ebay and noticed a few choices
1. guy in Utah making a set $130 or so. not sewn edges.
2. co in Nj .. $220 plus but more pieces and sewn edges.
3. saw a post for acc brand in molded. hadn't seen this before.
has anyone used the molded stuff.. thats what goes into most 60 mustangs and camaros etc.

someone in Cali was making sets. I messaged him last year to get 2 and he never got back to me after saying they would be 8 weeks..

My son bought from stock interiors. While the carpet is fine it moves around under your feet. I'd like to have a backing or sound deadening bonded to it. I'm just about at the carpet stage on the current build. Would love to know what was best. A quick qoogle search and Troy ermmish pops up. Hard to tell fr his web site. Sewn edges word be nice as well.

the #2 set has sewn edges
I would assume the molded does as well
#1 did not .

its easy to glue the backing to it. but like you I'd prefer to just put it in

I edited the first post to reflect this

I got these molded 2 pc carpets out of Austrailia:

They're 90% finished... I just need to cut the corners in, which is the hardest part.
I'm pretty happy with them. Really like the built in heel pad and that it's only 2 pcs.

if you can post some pics up of those-- did you get loop or cut pile--? crazy that its cheaper to ship from AU than get from NJ

MikeY - the "stock interiors" i checked it-- they look like they are reselling the one from NJ Newarkauto.. it does say comes with jute backing? yours didnt? although i did select 80/20 material as i think that last longer--

I would love to see pictures of the Australia product as well. I was thinking the listing had to be a mistake, so it would be great to see how it fits.

I bought rolls of carpeting from a seller on ebay that was fairly local to me. I cut and fit it myself, but not 100% satisfied how it fits over the tunnel, so I have more tuning or some method of fastening in that area to determine yet. The rear floor area fits pretty well but most cut lines are square and not many gradients to deal with.

I got the cut pile. It's surprisingly light which may help with the shipping costs? Fits well enough around the tunnel and where it meets doors and heads up to the rocker panels.

I don't yet have an image service which I guess is needed to host photos here? What works best?

If you are on android the built in gallery app has a photo editor that you can resize photos with.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?

Troy Ermish sells a carpet set. We have one NEW in the box, but have not even pulled it out yet!

I bought a kit from an Ebay seller and it was nothing more than 1/8th inch material. You could tell that he had patterns for lots of different cars and just cut them out with a pair of scissors! Another $100 wasted.

Looking for some carpet advice: I bought the set from Newark Auto for my 2-door. My interior restoration is for a completely factory-stock look, so I plan in buying the rubber shift boot and having no center console, because that's how this particular came when new.

Does anyone have advice on the installation of the rubber shift boot? I can't find any good links that show me how I should cut the center carpet piece to accommodate the rubber boot nor how the rubber boot connects to either the floor or the carpet. Does the last rung of the boot just fit inside the cut carpet hole? Or does it connect to the floor?

I laid the kit in there for fit and lit fits nicely, and came with sewn edges where it should and carpet jute on the back of the key pieces.

Any advice is appreciated for this rookie!
