Re: VG33 (Xterra) Swap - 2022

Personally I'd stay far away from the KA. I've got a SOHC and am not impressed with it. They're heavy, inefficient, and their trannies are getting hard to come by. The only real positive I've found is that they have nice torque and fit well in the PL510 . I'm seriously considering pulling mine out ...

Re: VG33 (Xterra) Swap - 2022

On paper the VG33 may look like the best route but I would take a D21 turbo KA over it all day. The amount of money it takes to get the VG in you could get a D21 KA and 2WD trans and turbo it. The VG just falls off so much in the high RPM's to me that doesn't feel sporty. Feels like a truck. Also yo...

Re: New Apex Engineered rear suspension

I would say wrong info is abundant. I could dig up some of our old info for you if you end up going that route. I want to try spherical bearings in the stock arms. The stock bushings flex a ton. I'd just like to see if I can feel the difference. I'm one of those people that notice every little thing...

Re: New Apex Engineered rear suspension

It would be cool if they did actual charts of stock vs. their's. I know from what we did that the points you choose are very important if you want less tow and camber gain. 1/2 of stock camber gain is best we could do and that wasn't easy. Also their exhaust clearance seems non existent and that jac...

Re: VG33 (Xterra) Swap - 2022

KA24's are great because they are a super simple swap, reliable and used to be a dime a dozen. Not so much anymore. VG's although they sound cool they are a boat anchor and don't go in so easy. You need a kit, including custom headers ect. (Yes we all know the S12 VG units will bolt in if you can fi...

Re: WTB: Oil Pan

Hello there, I need a 510 oil pan, one that keeps oil inside. If yours leaks it's likely from over tightening the bolts (naturally I don't mean you) to stop it leaking which distorts the holes into a dimple. It pinches the gasket only around the holes and leads to more tightening with little effect...

Re: Control arm bushings

Just grab a set of later arms from a buddy. The newer bushings are much better. The early bushings like you have deflect so much more.

Re: Stock Flywheel vs. Fidanza Aluminum for Turbo L20B

Adding a comment. A local 510 dude buddy of mine was over and we were on the topic of 71C's. Well he had a "bearing" noise in his trans that was driving him crazy. I loaned him a couple boxes. Noise didn't change. Turned out his super light aluminum flywheel allowed the drivetrain to pulse...

Progress looks awesome!!!

I need that rotor setup for my dime!

You dig the 3D printing. Me and a co-worker who has a 521 (so do I, junk collector) We scanned and 3D printed a glove box insert, we run the giant SLS at work. Seems right up your alley.

You could sponsor your buddy Jeff, we could put a "Keith Rocks" sticker on our rig!

Re: Blue 510 Vintage Racer

Dang where are all the pictures and in car video? Maybe next summer we can do a track day together at that track? I always thought gauges looked cool in racecars, turns out they are just for looks. Who has time to peak at them when you are racing? I check here and there but some of our guys will com...

Re: The Bronze EFI bits.....

Buying a racecar is the worst! Everything gets put on the back burner for a car that only gets driven a handful of times a year. Sure is a blast though.
