Re: New member from the east bay
Welcome, when you do pull the trigger, there is an absolute plethora of knowledge hidden in these archives. It’s old school, kinda like the cars we love. And I think most of us can agree, just buy as complete of a car as you can if you are in the market. Bits and pieces are hard to find, and will ni...

Re: Front crank seal question
There are two schools of thought here. Yes the slinger helps the seal work better. However if your a high reving type of driver, and because the seal materials improved over the years, the new seal will work fine without the slinger. In high reving situations, the seal would work against the seals b...

Re: What did you do on your 510 today?
Cool shots guys. I plan to put a permit on the 510 and drive it out to the Old Car Sunday in Mission this weekend. Glen will join me. He wanted to do the KMS show, hoping to win tools, but the Mission show is always well attended by a variety of neat still across the board. Anybody else got a Father...

Re: 510 Day - Byron's place in Maple Ridge
You know, I got over 50 people who sent me a text message this week, if half of them show up, it'll be a great day.
I'll post photos for sure. I write this from a hotel room in Halifax, but I'll be in YVR by 10am, do a Costco run and see those attending at 5:10

610/710 Spindle, small to large
Can anyone left out there in the world advise what model year the 610/710 models moved up from the smaller PL510 spindle size to the larger spindle used on the '77 and later 200SX, A510, 810/Maxima and 280ZX? I seem to know less these days than I did 25 years ago, but I believe the spindle was upgra...

Re: Swamp thing, from drift car to Endure car
Good to see you out, Jeff. I've had a blast driving my vintage race car over the last few years; I had it out on the 27th of the previous weekend. I installed an adjustable pedal box and beat my lap time by 2 seconds - a considerable improvement, really. Put me up in the top 5, actually qualified on...

Re: Original Paint Datsun 510 pics ?
Mike, as Owen noted above, all of the headlight metal parts were CAD plated at the factory. I have (had?!?) NOS ones in my pile of stuff, but much of it went with the Greg Terry car a couple of years ago. If and when I ever get home - and I will be home for 510 Day - I'll try and make time to look. ...

WTB Struts from 77-79 200SX or 77-81 A510
Hi everyone. I need a pair of struts (R/L) from a 77-79 200sx (S10) or a 77-81 A510 (Stanza, A10/A11). The strut doesn't need to be complete. Let me know what you have. It's possible that late 610/710 struts may work, I would need to confirm if the later 610/710 struts have (A) the larger spindle (s...

Re: Help Identify Transmission
I sent you a PM, but just for others here. With the long tail transmission, no metal plate ahead of the shifter and speedo gear bolt at 12 o'clock, this would be a 78-78 5 speed from either a truck or a 280z. Yes, the driveshaft will need to be shortened. Trust this helps. Byron PS more links - most...

510 Day 2025 - this weekend! We're back; Same bat time. Same bat channel! Let me know if you are attending, I need a head count for food :-) See page 1 of this thread for details/location. This event is a highlight for many every year. Look forward to talking with the locals who can make it. Byron

Re: HELP! Camber problems.
That does seem very odd. I can confirm that the geometry of all 510 and 610 rare control arms are the same. There are subtle difference in the shock mounts on 68 and 69 arms, otherwise they are geometrically the same. As for your alignment issue, this is odd and there is plenty of adjustment on any ...
