Re: Project 635 - 300HP RWD 620

I built a fold-down tray for my 510 electronics using old license plates. Not as clean as your solution, but I feel getting electrical stuff inside is such an accomplishment.

Re: Updates - New IC / Ebrake Handle Fitment

May cut out the spare tire well and contemplate a design for racing diffuser for fun 8) I've thought about doing this as well. I mean, I/we don't really use the spare tire well anyways right? I thought that it might make a neat beer cooler - line it with a rubber coating, fill it with ice and cans ...

Re: Dash removal and tach wiring diagram

Also remove the headlight and wiper knobs. Go slow. If it doesn't wiggle off easily, stop. Go back and look for more screws. Unplug blinker lights. After you remove the instrument surround once, you'll have no problem doing it again. The actual instrument panel is held in with tabs on top and bottom...

Re: Engine Bay (and other) Wiring Help?

@Rush The Haynes manual for wiring is junk. I've rewired just about my entire car - because the previous owner was a frickin idiot - using a test light and the wiring diagram from Paulo. I think he has been selling them, or at least was in the past. But, I was able to find it via the internet. I mus...

Sounds like a decent hypothesis...recheck after replacing motor.

Re: 510 Windshield Wiper help

I found updating the alternator does wonders for such electrical accessories, like the windshield wiper motor. Oh, and also cleaning out the 50+ year old grease and re-greasing it up.

Re: Stock Flywheel vs. Fidanza Aluminum for Turbo L20B

My dad gave me a different perspective on the topic of fly wheels. For context, he's an old drag racer (mid-70's). He advised me to look at the powerband to determine whether to go with lightweight or stock; noting that fly wheels play a part in momentum of the engine. A heavier fly wheel holds the ...

Re: ace028's 72 2 door

Looking great! I've gone back and forth with the Dapper lights, due to the modern look they provide. What's not debatable though is how the modern lights outshine the vintage lights. (See what I did there?) I updated all bulbs and lighting sources to LED at this point, except for my fog lights and ...

Re: 72 2 Door 510 Restoration-25 years in the making

Great work!

Consider utilizing a remote oil filter kit. Makes changing oil so, so, so much easier on L engines. And, you can actually fill up the oil filter all the way so there is no starvation on that first startup after the change. (Stock filters hold like an entire quart!!)

I think your 510 is the only one that can actually pull off an oil cooler mounted outside the grill.
