Re: Front crank seal question

There are two schools of thought here. Yes the slinger helps the seal work better. However if your a high reving type of driver, and because the seal materials improved over the years, the new seal will work fine without the slinger. In high reving situations, the seal would work against the seals ...

What pressure are you seeing at 3-4000 rpm acceleration?

Welcome. I don't remember how easy that later Z alternator is to mount, but you'll figure it out.

Re: Original hood hinge/prop finish

ostaylor wrote: 18 May 2025 12:39 I am quite certain that hinges were body colour matched. The prop and spring were zinc but the mount for the prop and spring was also body colour. Happy to be corrected if wrong, but that's how I've done mine and believe I consulted the experts :^).
Thanks. Good to know. I have one to redo.

Re: Oilpan Replacement Questions

Pressure seems a bit high for idle. For a street car that would probably be about normal for typical RPM driving.

Re: Subaru R180 diff in Nissan case

Yes Jeff. The NIssan original bolts for the R180 and the 38102-N3100 bolts are both 10x1.25, and correct, no 11mm shoulder. The Nissan 4.38 gear set threaded holes are 10mm. The through holes in the Subaru CLSD carrier are 11mm because bolts Subaru sues for attachment of the ring gear are 11mm. No d...

Re: Datsun/Subaru R180- What if?

In January I managed to find a couple front 4:38 720 diffs locally, which is fairly rare here in Big 3-centric Michigan. I have pulled covers and confirmed they are the stated ratio. I plan to modify to put a Quaife in one of them. Getting things lined up for that. I am finally getting back to my pr...

Really like the patch. Great idea. Good call on the bolts Rob. You can get these from Z car depot too. Maybe not the cheapest though. https://zcardepot.com/products/driveshaft-propeller-shaft-bolt-r180-oem-240z-260z-280z?variant=19274582556785&currency=USD&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cp...

Wow Chad, so sorry to hear this. Glad you are ok, and you seem to have a good attitude about everything. I have lived a lot of my life in tornado country, but fire is a scarier threat.

Best wishes on rebuilding your life.

Re: Installing headliner without rear pillar interior vents -- issues?

What kind of problems are you considering, airflow? There's always the vent windows if nice weather. If they are to be added later, that doesn't pose a problem. I cut the holes and installed mine after the headliner was in place.

Set sold on ebay.

If someone comes across this and desperately needs a set, I do have another set I am saving for any potential future project. I would let them go for a good home.

Re: Starter issues

If the power cable is 6 gauge from the battery all the way to the starter, that is too small and can't move enough current. Usually the battery cables just in the engine compartment are 4 gauge. I used 0 or 00 fine-strand welding cable to do mine. It should probably be at least 2 gauge for that leng...

Re: Which Rear Camber And Toe Product?

I have the Datsport on my race car, and have contemplated the Byron brackets for my street car. One thing different in my understanding is the Byron brackets and probably the Maddat version only provide adjustment on the inner, the outer remains stock bracket. Pros/cons of this are not something I f...
