Re: VG33 (Xterra) Swap - 2022

Thanks Dadzsun, Yes. Firmly in the realm of getting ahead of myself, my first thought had been the KA swap, since it is by most accounts the easiest and definitely the best documented here. Once I spent a little more time reading on it, and looking at what is available in Ontario, I decided against ...

Re: VG33 (Xterra) Swap - 2022

Yup. I'm wrong all over the place. Mixing up my 180SX's with 240SX's and the powerplants they came with. I lived in Aus breifly and NZ for a couple years as well, so I'm remembering things incorrectly. In my head, a 180/240 are pretty much the same thing, and yes, it is the SR20-T that I am thinking...

Re: VG33 (Xterra) Swap - 2022

Sorry, to disambiguate, I meant the KA24-T out of a 240sx, I wasn't clear there. They probably did come to Canada, but I'm not finding anything around here, and I don't think the 510 needs a turbo for my intended use. Trans would indeed be a from an S32 (link won't last long, I assume...) https://ww...

Re: Greetings from Atlantic Canada.

Welcome to the forum. I'm new here as well, and also a first time Datsun owner, tho old hand on forums. I feel your pain, currently living in Southern Ontario where salt on roads is a fiasco. It was better when I lived in Central/Northern Ontario. Often too cold for salt to do anything, to we use to...

VG33 (Xterra) Swap - 2022

To preface, I hope I've done enough research before asking questions that I'm not wasting lots of people's time, but I spent quite a while going through here and ratsun to figure out what people have done that works and does not. This kind of got started when an Xterra came up for sale not far from ...

Re: Z24 Value today?

Thanks for the information. Doesn't sound like there is much of value in the engine to anyone then, without some serious and probably pointless work. I was mainly curious about picking it up while I was there if anyone had use for parts out of it. Very much appreciate the details on possible other e...

Re: Z24 Value today?

Thanks Mike, I haven't forgotten our correspondance about a wagon hatch. This just came up close to me. It's not in great shape, so it may not be an easy replacement, but perhaps something to learn a little bodywork on. It does have glass, lights and locking mechanism for $200, as well as plenty of ...

Z24 Value today?

As the title suggests, I'm curious what anyone might say a running Z24 is worth? My research suggests they're considered good as a "franken-engine" combo with other L series stuff, but dimensionally don't work on their own in 510s. I ask because I am going to have a look at/buy a used wago...

Re: Hello From Southern Ontario

Yuuup. In the meantime, I spent all of my fun money building a small two bay garage on an overbuilt pad, and bought a 2 post Bendpak lift. So, on the the plus side, at least when the goon does get here, she'll have a good home and I will have a dry place out of the weather and sun to work on it. Mig...

Re: Hello From Southern Ontario

Ugh.... November 2022 and the Goon is still at it's original home in Florida.

Maybe next Spring. It is, at least, safe and was inside a workshop for the hurricane, so no more damage than it had already seen just from being old.

Re: Datsun Roadster complete rear end

Hey Johnny, a few points , I see you're in St-Catherines so you're most likely talking to Pat about this , Nice guy by the way, he's had it up for sale for a number of years and it's definitely NOT an LSD but a stock open diff from a 1600 Roadster with a 3.9 final ratio. and his price at 400$ is a ...

Re: Datsun Roadster complete rear end

Thanks Mike, Clear and concise. I think I am used to LSDs with a lot more 'slip' in them than described above. So perhaps just much less track oriented types, or some other permutation that allows them to be more daily driver friendly. Maybe I'll just try to get some seat time in a similar car with ...

Re: Datsun Roadster complete rear end

Whelp... Gentleman was kind enough to confirm what the photos he sent along suggested, wrong bolt pattern for an H190, so it is very likely the H165. And while it isn't a perfect test, turning one side forward rotates the opposite axle in the opposite direction, so most likely not an LSD. Thanks ver...

Re: Datsun Roadster complete rear end

Yes, thanks. Further reading suggests I had the different roadster rear ends mixed up. The one I thought was correct was ~1.5" shorter overall? I can't see finding any way to swap in a 6" shorter rear end, no. I'm principally looking for the LSD becuase while I don't plan on wild power for...

Re: Datsun Roadster complete rear end

It was not a factory, it was a option. If it's a true LSD I'd take it for 400 Canadian bucks. I will write and see if he has a moment to turn one of the axles, parts listing *does* indicate it is an LSD, but it's in my hometown, and my Dad can go take a look for me, and pick it up if so. It's a 5 h...
