Re: Stock Flywheel vs. Fidanza Aluminum for Turbo L20B

The Roadster weighs about 2,000 pounds, so that helps a lot. From what I understand a 510 weights 2050lbs to the roadster’s 1983lbs I doubt that 70lbs would make that big a difference ? And N/A so there is that too. With the turbo you would have more torque down low which would theoretically make i...

Re: Stock Flywheel vs. Fidanza Aluminum for Turbo L20B

Not an L20B but still relevant to your question I believe , In one of my roadsters, I have a modified U20 that puts about 160bhp , I run this https://www.datsunrestorationproducts.com/product-page/light-weight-steel-flywheel 10lbs billet FW paired with an Exedy 225mm 240Z clutch and PP . It’s very s...

Re: Subaru R160 vs R180, what are the limits of each differential?

FWIW
for my 260Z I got an R180 4:11 from a 200SX which was cheap ,
I brought it to my local transmission shop and they swapped the buttons from a Z R180 for 100$
I put 180lb/ft at the wheels

Re: Automatic tranny upgrade questions

Awesome thank you 1/ It will be a snug fit, better if the car was originally an automatic. Yup my car has a BW35 in it right now If running a 6 bolt Z22 crankshaft the 4N71B 6 bolt flex plate will fit right on using the torque converter pilot. Automatic tranny upgrade questions

After much debate I’ve decided to keep my 510 project automatic to please my other half. We have plenty of manual cars which se enjoys but she asked me to make this one automatic and build a relaxed cruiser. The car is a 70 with a BW35 column shift early transmission. Since a larger engine is going ...

Re: 3:54 STI Diff experience

3.54 STI is my favorite setup, and I've experimented with pretty much everything. If you've got a grunty engine (ie: 2.2l+, KA), the STI 3.5 Torsen diff is so sweet. Very smooth action, quiet, virtually no maintenance, and less turn-in understeer. Personally, I like not having to shift 1/2 way thro...

Jetted as follows: - 190 Main Jet - Y6 Needle Jet - 22.5 Pilot Jet - 2.3 Float Bowl Needle and Seat - Jet Needle Raised on Notch Now, I'm not sure yet what all that means. I've got an extra jet set of jets on hand, in case they need to be adjusted. I'm hoping John's expertise results in a good setu...

Re: Datsun Roadster complete rear end

Hey Johnny, a few points , I see you're in St-Catherines so you're most likely talking to Pat about this , Nice guy by the way, he's had it up for sale for a number of years and it's definitely NOT an LSD but a stock open diff from a 1600 Roadster with a 3.9 final ratio. and his price at 400$ is a l...

Re: What did you do on your 510 today?

Christmas finally came! These will replace my 38mm SU's. Cool , assuming they’re 42s did you get them from John Parker ? Yes indeed! These will get installed after I sort out an electrical issue that is popping my 20a main fuse. I believe I've tracked it to a faulty regulator in the alternator. And...
