Re: 2018 SCCA Runoffs..Run to the Championship
I was gone camping and climbing over the weekend and was looking forward to opening this thread and reading the results. You guys didn't disappoint! Congratulations Collin! Wish I could have seen it in person. I'm really looking forward to watching the replay!

Re: 2018 SCCA Runoffs..Run to the Championship
It was great to meet you today Keith! I was hoping to catch up with you guys after qualifying, but with how late everything was running, I had to take off. I was up at turn 4 during the GT3 session and could really tell that Collin was really hustling the car! Best of luck for the race!

Re: 2018 SCCA Runoffs..Run to the Championship
I'm about 35-45 minutes from Sears Point depending on traffic. I'm going to plan on taking a half day on Thursday and hopefully being able to catch some of the qualifying!

Re: 2018 SCCA Runoffs..Run to the Championship
I might be traveling on the weekend, but I would really like to make it down there for at least a half day during the week. It would be great to meet you in person Keith (maybe get some more of your speed secrets out!) and be able to watch some of the qualifying action.

Very interested in the door panels. Haven't heard back from the PM that I sent. Are they still available?

Re: Carburator Jet Box Storage ideas
I have used those clear plastic boxes with individual adjustable dividers for everything from carburetor jets to TIG welding supplies. They come in a bunch of different sizes and the compartments can be made to whatever size you want by moving the dividers.

You might be amazed at how well you can get the carbs tuned with the wideband. It takes pretty much all the guessing and "black art" out of the tuning.

Re: 280zx rear control arms on a 510 crossmember
I seem to recall somebody saying that the track width with the 280zx arms is wider. By how much, I'm not sure. I think that a few people have done it successfully, albeit with a good amount of other modifications. I think the fairly well known car called the "Strutless Wonder" used 280zx t...

Re: Brake question
You do not want the rear to lock up if you go hard into the corner and try some trail braking at the same time, just not a good scenario. I remember my first autocross on slicks. The added traction lead to more weight transfer under braking. Trail braking hard through a decreasing radius turn...rea...

Re: Brake question
There should be a differential in temperature between the front and rear brakes. Because of the weight transfer under hard braking, the front brakes should be doing the majority of the work, and therefore will get much hotter than the rear brakes. If the braking force was split perfectly 50-50, the ...

Re: Brake question
I just browsed through this thread and I saw that bedding the pads was mentioned early on, but vetteguy22 never confirmed that the pads had been properly bedded in (unless I missed it). The importance of performing a proper bedding process when changing either pads or rotors is paramount to proper b...

Thanks Tedman! I'll be adding that to my to-do list for this season. I'll report back with results once I get a good chance to test.

Re: Sticky, wide, 13" and 14" tires - Toyo Proxes R888
One maybe unforeseen downside to running R-comps on the street is that the limits of the tires are so high, the cornering speeds achievable are maybe a little excessive for public roads. Even with 200 tread wear tires on my car, driving the car near its limits (aka "the fun zone") is way f...
