Thanks for the info. What parts did cobra transmission have available for your trans?

Called Cobra Transmissions, looks like the two above kits are not available.
Re: WTB dogleg 5 speed FS5W63A transmission from 200sx
If in fact the "kits" are NLA NLS, you should be able to find the bearings individually, by the part # stamped on them. The seals should also have a part # (or dimensions) cast into them. We often go this route for other classic car trans parts! I know, a pain to wait until disassembled, but that's the classic car world sometimes! The synchro rings MIGHT be the same as the other Datsun models, so come up with the OEM part # & compare to other Datsuns..........

32604-P0100 all 5 are the same and also found (but not necessarily all 4 or 5) in the 4 speeds in the

The oil seal for the bell housing was too small. Other than that everything else was tits.datzenmike wrote: ↑19 Oct 2022 07:03 All you have to do is look

Re: WTB dogleg 5 speed FS5W63A transmission from 200sx
Don't forget the tapered counter bearing. Bottom right below...
This is the weakest link on this, and the 71B on the left. When power is applied, the main and counter shafts try to move apart. This bearing has to handle that load. If transmission growls in every gear but 4th it's the counter bearing. Note how much larger the 71B bearing is.

Re: WTB dogleg 5 speed FS5W63A transmission from 200sx
Wouldn't it be a hoot if that tapered cone bearing was the same as the inner front wheel bearing? Nah..... What are the chances?
But there might be a wheel bearing that works somewhere.... just saying...

Re: WTB dogleg 5 speed FS5W63A transmission from 200sx
That's the weak point. Every gear but 4th (which isn't a gear at all) even reverse, has to go through the countershaft. Any load tries to push the countershaft and the mainshaft apart and exerts a lot of pressure on that bearing. A larger bearing would help but you are limited by the distance between the main and countershafts. In this case it's 63mm, hence the FS5W63A.
To reduce the wear, never pass or climb steep hills that require full throttle, in 5th. Same with high winds at high speeds. Better to use 4th which avoids the counter bearing.
