It was garagefive.
http://www.garagefive.net/
You can look on the Cusco site for what is available. Mine was made to order so it took about 6 weeks to get. They make one for the Datsun 240 which has the smaller inner diameter ring gear and the subaru one which is the larger. I got the 1.5 way.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?

Thanks! I browsed around on the Cusco website - pretty cool technology.

DId you go with the RS or MZ?

Thanks again... could be a good option. Do you know if it would replace all the welded together stuff in my current R180? It looks like it would. Better if I can make use of some of what I have.

It is a complete unit. You only need the ring gear and pinion. And the bolts.

A couple of updates... I sourced a Subaru R180 rear differential 3.54 with Torsen LSD from G&R Foreign in Salem, OR - they were great to deal with. It should arrive tomorrow and I'll post pictures.

I also sourced the remaining Autometer Gauges I need to finish my SSS Dash. Fingers crossed I have those for the weekend and can finish the dash assembly - again, pictures coming.

Hoping to connect with my paint guy this week to find out about availability to paint and go over the project with him to finalize whether I do some pre-assembly prior to paint or just get er done and then try to work carefully with the painted shell.

Finally I was able to finish my gas tank refurbishment. Tanks Inc PA-4 in tank fuel pump (255 litres per hour) and their replacement 9" fuel level sender as well. Overall, I am pretty happy with the outcome. It was a bit finicky (what isn't?) and drilling a 4.5 inch hole in a used fuel tank was a bit nerve wracking (are all the fumes gone????), but it turned out pretty nice!

Nice work. So the stock fuel sender is no longer used then?

Correct, the new fuel pump would have interfered with the float arm. I considered trying to bend it around some how, but the original float and sensors are not renowned for accuracy. I cut the original sender float arm off and reinstalled it to seal that hole. The new one should be more accurate and reliable and takes very little room. I only wish I had ordered it when I ordered the fuel pump to save a bit on shipping.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of the shipping from Tanks Inc. - both were shipped Fedex ground international and (at least so far) I have not been charged any brokerage, duties, taxes, blah, blah, blah that are usually very frustrating and expensive with these cross border shipments.

My 2013 Subaru STi R180 3.54 Torsen LSD finally arrived today. It was well packaged and prepared for shipping by G&R Foreign. A little rustier on the outside than I hoped so I was a little worried before I cranked it open...

The internals look perfect! The outside is pretty easy to clean up so I'm pretty happy with this. I'll order new seals and get to cleaning it up over the next week or so.

Thanks! - The story itself was quite an adventure and getting it written and posted on BaT took some time (we bought and presented the car to my oldest brother in 2019). We were really pleased to have been nominated for the annual award and even more pleased to win the category which they announced on Monday :^). Here's the award if anyone is interested:

I actually posted my previous comment before I read the article. What a tremendous uplifting story. Mad props to you and your brother for considering such a gesture, and then actually carrying it through right down to the perfect presentation.
Love wins

Thanks Byron - that is a well documented story and build thread in one! I didn't read every post but I got the gist of it. Sounds like another great adventure.
