Peter's FJ20ET Datsun 1600 from Australia
Re: Peter's FJ20ET Datsun 1600 from Australia
Hey Tuffs,
Nice job on that intercooler man. Looks pretty stealthy behind there. It's good to see you posting new picts of your car again. BTW, what stub ends and dif did you use when rebuilding your rear end, or did you upgrade to an R200?

Thanks Ron.
I'm still using factory r180 stubs I got from a Zed wrecking yard here.
Hopefully plan to upgrade to an r200 in a few years once a few other upgrades
have been completed

Well Peter,
At least you know the stubs are your weakest link right now. Speaking of "Links", you have a G4 ECU don't you? In the mean time, maybe you could do the poor man's launch control by limiting boost to 60% in first gear and 80% in second. From a dead start there's only so much power you can actually use without breaking traction, or the drive train. I'm sure in the heat of the moment, with 100% of that screaming FJ under the hood, trying to execute a smooth controlled launch is be far easier said than done.
Just a thought,
Ron M.

Damn that car is well traveled! I doubt many 510's have been across the Pacific as many times as that car has!

I'd heard on BAT the Goichi Coupe was shipped to Aus, so I thought I'd never see it again. THanks for posting this Tuffs. Looks like the low back race seats were replaced though. I understand the need for safety and all, but cosmetically I think those modern seats really detract from the classic JDM vibe way too much. I loved the sensitive balance Rich struck between the coupe's classic aesthetic, and his well thought out and flawlessly executed modern upgrades.

i concur Ron. I'm pretty sure he will keep the previous seats, just adding his personal touches whilst he owns it. He does have a few minor plans for it but is enjoying it whilst he can

I sure am glad you posted the picture too. It's really fun seeing and knowing that someone else is enjoying something that I built, with the help of a few friends of coarse. I'm pretty sure I was smiling every time I turned the key and rolled out the driveway. In Japan most of the meets were late at night, so there were nights that I would fly down the highways and burn through the smaller streets from signal to signal to get back home. Those were some good times for sure. Thanks again!!

Nice,
I was looking at that video you sent me, the other day, your run down the coast.
we're in the middle of winter here now, so have months of cold and wet before we can roll the cars out again.
