Trunk lid hinge springs

Post by skippyelwell »

I removed the trunk hinges and springs to repaint the car and reinstalled them the way I thought they were, without the trunk lid installed the hinges spring up to their highest position but with the lid installed the lid won't stay open by itself, I remember the lid remained in the upright position before I removed it so somehow I got the springs back on so they sort of work but not with full strength. Is there a diagram or a howto for the proper configuration for the springs that anyone knows about?

Thanks

Figured it out! Simple once you see it but hellishly frustrating until you do. I could find virtually no help for these torsion bars so this is for you guys in the future. The torsion bars aren't interchangeable, they are dedicated to one side only, you'll figure out.
Get yourself a big screw driver follow the pics.
