Heater cable routing for the valve

Post by iceman510 »

Getting finished putting in the heater controls after finding the proper illuminated panel for my 73. I had no issue with the cable for the front lower heater door, but not sure I am putting the heater valve cable in right. It seems to want to sit differently than the cable memory is suggesting (again, I never had this car together, got it with no heater, and am using the heater box from my old 71, so no disassembly reference).

I routed this cable initially next to the lower door cable, up between the intake air box and the dash structure. After that, I tried a reverse "S" curve back towards the seats, then forward to the heater lever, fastening the cable end on the side of the box. Seems to work, but normal cable travel does not seem to obtain opening and closing of the valve.

I neglected to get a picture, but can try to do so tomorrow. Any photos or experience invited.

Thanks.
