Re: Toilet paper shortage!!
A little worried but probably from watching US 'news'. 10 years ago I would be in panic. Really getting into staying up later and turning the alarm off at 5 and going back to sleep.... till the kats want brekkey.

Re: Toilet paper shortage!!
I’m just getting caught up on the Realm - took me 45 minutes to get through this ‘new’ thread that popped up while I was away.
Work for me continues, I spent two very busy weeks in Mid March working in shipyards at a time we were being told to stay home. That’s stressful. I usually work from home, so self isolation isn’t an issue - to go back to working in a crowded shipyard at a time we’re supposed to be distancing ourselves.... it did t seem right.
But the jobs were all part of the supply chain. And my usual assistance and support I get from our Seattle office was not available here in the Port of Vancouver due the border being closed. We got a local tractor tug back together, repaired a ferry which does only commercial trucking and got a fishing vessel back in the water. I have to admit the first couple days was stressful, not just because I walking into a job someone else started and disassembled, but wondering what my protocol and other should be. There were no masks, no gloves, no signs that anything had changed in the shipyard. I was working shoulder to shoulder, in a small and confined space with 5 guys present... it took a while for my brain to calm down. But I got the jobs done, and it honestly felt good to have the coveralls back on for a while.
I d been home for a week now, thankfully healthy and no symptoms. But my son is with my parents, and they’ve taken the isolation seriously. My daughter came back home. My 2 international student went home this last Wednesday, I felt really bad for them and miss them much. I felt especially as for the one From Slovakia who would have graduated this year. She was so looking forward to prom with her friends. Her dress just arrived as the whole COVID thing went down. Now it’s all over.
I’m staying busy in the shop. Last weekend I put together a Datsport X member for Dan on the island, but I have no idea when he’ll be able to pick it up. I also shortened a set of struts for him. Felt great to use the lathe.
I installed a couple of hi bay HO lights above the fab bench and over the mill, as the newly installed racking did block the light fro lm the ceiling.
Now I’m onto a cage in a Gen II Golf. Should keep me busy for a few months.
As Keith noted earlier in the thread, 510 Day looks like it may not happen. I will however reschedule as soon as we’re advised it ok to do so. For the out of towners, I have a few extra beds and a couple empty rooms now.
Good to see some of you doing well. Let hope we can all make it through this with our minds and bodies healthily attached.

Re: Toilet paper shortage!!
Hey Byron, good to hear from you!!!! I guess we will have to put off my lighting upgrade for awhile.
Like you, Matt and I will be hitting the backroads soon, build a fire and cook something. It remains to be seen if/when any parks like Manning will reopen, still snowing in the mountains anyhow.
Went for 6K walk yesterday with Matt, nice to get some exercise. Next week looks to be warm finally, may plan a 12 K bike ride to the Delta Air Park.
I'm going to hopefully fireup the Datsun at the end of April and get insurance, I hope, not sure what is open or how it may work under these conditions.
When Matt and I got back from walk, there was a binder sitting on my stairs outside, from Bob Davey. IN it is a complete photocopy of the "HOW TO MODIFY YOUR DATSUN" book. I do not need it so if anyone would like it, raise your hand.

Re: Toilet paper shortage!!
Done Ron, could not go to a better home!
I may be out your way next week, I'm going to check with the fellow in Chilliwack, who wants the newsletters, if I can drop off.
I can cruise by your driveway and fling the book out at 5 KMH !
I just want to keep moving STUFF out of my basement, and, as I take things out of the tubs, they then sit on my floor, which now makes my basement look like a hoarders paradise. I guess that's what happens when you live in a place for 42 years and are a bit of a pack rat and collector.
Any HEAVY METAL MAGAZINE collectors here, NATIONAL LAMPOON, right from the early days?

Byron - My Daughter (senior in High School) is going through some of those same things. Its disorienting and a bit surreal - but she has been able to keep it in perspective so far. Hope everyone is riding this out safely!

Wear gloves when refueling. You have no idea where that nozzle's been.

Re: Toilet paper shortage!!
Found an old 1980 West Coast Car magazine, had Westwood race results, solo stuff, other car related bits, and, this article on what I think was Larry Nerada's Z car, as his business at the time was NEURON RACING, supplied all sorts of things. I bought my first Weber 32/36 from him when I figured out the G-Force issue with the stock carb. That carb is still on my car to this day, 30 years of amazing use!!!!

Just found out that my employment has been terminated. After just short of 28 years with the company too. Little did I know the last two weeks were practice.

Hope that’s just a temporary measure during this challenging time Mike, lots of job sites are shuttered.

For those of you that were part of the Bert Vorgon saga, on the wall, is the Vorgon Decelerator cartoon. That picture is in my office in 1974, so it has been around for awhile before Bert came along in the 90's....too funny!
I obviously have too much time on my hands so if you get bored, just say...seems quiet in 510 world.

Re: Toilet paper shortage!!
Got into another tub of race results, my books, and other misc race related STUFF.
In the early 90's, after I won the 1991 CDN National Championship, Nissan Motorsport Canada sponsored me with yearly boxes of swag, tons of stuff amazingly, money flowed well then. I bet over the years I got a 100 of the Nissan Motorsport T' shirts. When the funding ended, the woman who looked after it was quite sad it had to stop, as she loved the pictures I used to send of Ice racing, road racing and of course my Solo and Hillclimb stuff, with all the 510 gang.
On occasion some cool things would show up, flashlights, cups, etc. One time these 2 magazines(for lack of a better word) came in one of the boxes, some great photos and stories of Datsun's as the cover suggest. Lots of history there for rally types, that's for sure, and of course coverage all over the World. They came right from Japan from Nissan Motor Co, Ltd.
here are a few snippets of what they look like and contain.
