Yeah. That transmission was designed with a more powerful engine in mind, and the fifth gear is relatively tall for a little 4 cylinder L series. You may have trouble keeping speed in 5th gear, especially in some hills.

Depending on which ZX box you get, you could end up with a 0.745 5th. The L16 won't have the torque to push it except on a flat cruise. You want to pass, downshift. You want to climb a hill, downshift.

Gearing is important.

ok. what about the 200sx trans because i don't think the 200sx is very common in socal escpecially in the junkyard?

Much better, but if you're talking about the dogleg short box - good luck finding a 200SX space ship in the JY.

finding that transmission would be a miracle. but I'm sticking with my 22r for now,i already have it wired up,exhaust is done and its running because i wanted the car as a daily driver.
