As my G35 had it's hissy fit on 510 day, I decided not to go to Knox this year.
I have of course watched the results from the event.
John Haftner's record of 1:37:065 was broken yesterday by a fellow named Aran Cook, his time:
1:36:678, hitting 189 Km (117 MPH) on the straight .
Bob Boyer looks to have had a good drive in his V-8 powered 510 this year; 2:03:324.
Will update as the day ends. Looks like it rained a bit this morning, maybe showers off and on.

Wow, Johns record stood for a very long time, I’m curious what the car was that beat him…far more tech than what John had I suspect.

Ok...
on the entry list...spelled differently twice....I think....ARCOBALENO Arco Version 3...looks to be a small Formula car.

Maybe this is it. I can see his name on the side
Aran Cook is running an Arco X10 Formula car that is looking like it’s really, really close to setting the overall record, which I think was set in 2007, so it’s a big record to hit," explained racer and event organizer Garrett Mealing.

Re: KNOX MOUNTAIN 2023
So, that's it for another year and the GAUNTLET has been thrown down......
The new Hillclimb record holder. The time stands, last runs might have been in the wet maybe, times sure went up for the most part.

Re: KNOX MOUNTAIN 2023
Neato, thanks for sharing the pics…lots of development in the areo for sure!
In regards to going slower, the fastest Knox run I ever had was when I “slowed down” and even short shifted a bit, hence the old saying slow is fast.

Re: KNOX MOUNTAIN 2023
Same, I decided, in 1997, to shift into a higher gear approaching all the really fast corners, 5 ,6 and 7. It just smoothed things out and the car just felt more stable.
The biggy for me was keeping it planted through 7. Most lift for that corner way early, gravity slows amazing. Obviously TRUST of grip was so important and letting the car go out to the far left, settle it flat and then climb on the brakes for 8.
I made sure those Goodyears were well scrubbed before Knox.
