Coil works but spark not getting to plugs.

Set engine to TDC compression stroke on #1.
Remove distributor from the timing cover and look.

You should see this from...

Take note of the large and small side the half moons are on. If you have this, above, then you should be able to get spark and adjust for timing. If you don't, you'll have to drop the oil pump turn the drive spindle and insert it back until you do.

The matchbox is far and away more than you will ever need for ignition spark. They were used on the six cylinder 280z and zx and at red line, about 7,600 RPMs that's 11,400 RPM on a 4 cylinder.
If the above checks out look where the rotor is pointing. It should be below one of the plug wires on the cap.

I had to wait till next week's thrilling episode of Jet Jackson (aka Captain Midnight) to find out if he survived being cut in half at the saw mill at the end of this weeks episode. The Ovaltine Decoder Ring was no help after Captain Midnight was retired. I taped two paper towel cardboard tubes to the back of my T shirt (my rocket pack) and hurt my arm jumping off the shed roof. May have hit my head. I can't remember.

Quick thread hijack...

Only you and I are maybe left on this site that lived that time in our lives. KVOS TV in the early 60's used to play a lot of those serials, and, at the B movies we went to as kids, the "intermission" between shows usually had the on-going serials..The G-MEN always cut
at a crucial point. When I think back at some of the "food" fights in a couple of the theaters on Granville St we went too, I
don't know how management ever allowed that. We learned NEVER to sit under the balcony!!!

Now, back to the regular show.....

Pencil-thin Mustache

Now they make new movies in old black and white
With happy endings, where nobody fights
So if you find yourself in that nostalgic rage
Honey, jump right up and show your age
I wish I had a pencil-thin mustache
The "Boston Blackie" kind
A two-toned Ricky Ricardo jacket
And an autographed picture of Andy Devine
I remember bein' buck-toothed and skinny
Writin' fan letters to Sky's niece Penny
Oh, I wish I had a pencil-thin mustache
Then I could solve some mysteries too
Then it's Bandstand, Disneyland, growin' up fast
Drinkin' on a fake I.D.
Yeah, and Rama of the jungle was everyone's Bawana
But only jazz musicians were smokin' marijuana
Yeah, I wish I had a pencil-thin mustache
Then I could solve some mysteries too
Thin, thin, pencil-thin mustache
Then it's flat top, dirty bob, coppin' a feel
Grubbin' on the livin' room floor, so sore
Yeah, they send you off to college, try to gain a little knowledge
But all you want to do is learn how to score
Yeah, but now I'm gettin' old, don't wear underwear
I don't go to church and I don't cut my hair
But I can go to movies and see it all there
Just the way that it used to be
That's why I wish I had a pencil-thin mustache
The "Boston Blackie" kind
A two-toned Ricky Ricardo jacket
And an autographed picture of Andy Devine
Oh, I could be anyone I wanted to be
Maybe suave Errol Flynn or the Sheik of Araby
If I only had a pencil-thin mustache
Then I could do some cruisin' too
Yeah, Bryl-cream, a little dab'll do ya
Oh, I could do some cruisin' too

Points dizzys get play because of the stiff spring. Matchbox shafts just spin, there's no side load.

A good ground is absolutely essential. The module has to be tightly screwed to the distributor case and the distributor firmly bolted down to ground it. Later EI distributors have a dedicated ground terminal. Or just make one.

Spent some time on this yesterday. Unplugged the MSD6A unit and wired up both the matchbox and petronix distributors that I had in the car with the factory wiring. Had a wiring diagram and traced/labelled all the old wiring and connected it the way I think it goes together based on the drawing and what I had for wires and still no spark.

Really have no clue as to why with so many different ways of doing this I cannot get spark to work on any of them.
