I would suggest start with reading the suspension thread, that will give you an idea of what people are running, etc..

Be honest with what you want the car to be. I have seen too many massive brake kits put on as the flavour of the day, then Sears Road handler tires installed.
Do you have a 510 now? I don't have that sense in your post.
I would suggest you try and find a "finished" car, as the rust monster and availability of a LOT of parts,
is not easy anymore.

thank you all for the welcome and the advice. I agree that a more finished car would be best, especially given my minimal garage space and poor skills. The 510 is still the right size sedan for me, even if the world of cars has just gotten too big.
