Re: Ecology 510
Why not make it easy on yourself and put an old L-series in there?

Re: Ecology 510
it still have the l16 with an automatic trans if i want to put it back in but i needed an engine so i can go to college.
Re: Ecology 510
If the L16 and auto work - why not use them? Pretty simple and bulletproof (generally).
Finished is better than perfect......

Hope you don't want to lower it much.SANDMAN3622 wrote:and some 15x7 0 offset wheels.
I'm with the "stick the L-series back in" crowd. Since you have time to swap a 22R in, why not just stick the L16 in and spend your time sourcing a 5-speed and the manual-trans swap parts?

Re: Ecology 510
May I have your old hubcaps?
Re: Ecology 510
Asside from maybe the price of the motor set ....... I don't see how a 22R swap would be easier/cheaper/quicker than a KA24DE swap
it's worth $1500 rigt now without wheels ..... .. $1,300 with a driving 22R ....... $2,500 with a running L16 ...... $5k+ with a KA24DE
Those wheels will fit fine with stock rear camber,,, and 280zx front struts

Re: Ecology 510
How much camber is stock in the rear on a 510, anyway? Sure, they'll fit once you lower it if you don't correct the camber after lowering, but it's the same fitment issue the Konig's had/have. And it would seem silly to correct the rear toe out after lowering but leave the 5° of negative camber. You're going to need as much tire on the ground as possible once he goes KA.indy510 wrote:Those wheels will fit fine with stock rear camber,,, and 280zx front struts

Re: Ecology 510
The L16 was trashed really bad when i found the car at the junkyard but i have everything to put it back in. i wanna keep the 22r for now and then i'll rebuild the engine and look for that 5speed trans. also i have a 620 datsun truck if you can see it there in the picture background with an L18 with a 4speed, i can put that in.
what kind of car am i look at for a 5speed??

Re: Ecology 510
Depends on which one (gearing, length, fitment) you want.

L16 might not like the ZX 5th gear.

Re: Ecology 510
Well it's worth a try. but do you mean that the L16 can't handle the 5th gear?
