Shifter boot that doesn't dry rot in 1 year!!???!?!?!?!?!?

Post by icehouse »

I know someone on here has to have a shifter boot that is easy to mount and doesn't dry rot in about a year.  What are you guys running?

Hey Jeff,

I have one of the Made in Mexico ones that is hanging in there no problem. There is a bit of the rubber "casting flash" on it but overall it has been good, flexible and been in service now for 3 years since installation.

I have a factory one in stock and you can see the difference but not enough to say it looks like crap.

My original one had a failure right where the shifter comes out, a zillion shifts it has seen through all my racing and then some.

Picture is the Mexican one.

I have the same one. I got it from ebay.

I think that the best shifter boot that I have ever used was an old CV boot. Didn't crack in the ~4 years that I ran it and replacements are very easy to come by.

I have had it so long in my inventory I do not remember where I got the Mexican one.

The factory one I got from Specialty.

I do treat it with a plastic spray that keeps it supple.
