OCTOBERFAST 2022

Post by bertvorgon »

Morning World!

As no one has brought up any sort of drive possibility, here is what I am going to do on Sunday, Oct. 16th. I know it's late notice but I have been dealing with a lot the last few weeks and time just blew by. ....middle of October.... what the hell!

Our weather window is so very good right now and it will end.

I will be at the Hope Chevron for a 9:00 Am leave, up the Hope/Princeton to Princeton, then hook a left and head over to the OLD HEDLEY ROAD ( 32 km long roughly) and head down that to where it hooks back into the highway, then head back to Bromley Rock for a picnic style lunch. Then back home via same route.

Who knows what construction is like, hopefully weekend off and the fire at East gate, as it jumped the highway, may or may not be an issue. I have friends travelling back to Osoyoos today, so will give me a road report tonight.

I was at octoberfest last week. Luckily no driving was done. Had a hard time walking by the end of 4 tents and 4 liters. I highly recommend it. Very friendly crowd and great food.

It looks like my son is coming with me Sunday. He always loves riding in my car and has never been on a long ride in it so he is excited.

Afternoon World!

Sure, the more the merrier. Road report was good considering it was a work week, so we should be good. One of the bridges has a bump so we must watch for that.

Smoke will be there for sure, so be aware that will be an issue if you have breathing problems, etc..

I will send a note to Paul and Jamie.

Just did this drive last weekend with my brother. The road is decent with lots of new pavement, one section was grooved and the one lane alternating bridge does have a wicked bump both on & off - FRONT SPOILERS BEWARE. Fun twisty bits still need resurfacing tho... The fire at Manning Eastgate was away from the road but still smoking pretty good.

Should be a nice day!

Someone did tell me about the newly paved sections on Hwy 3.
I‘be been in Northern Alberta all week, got back last night, but I have a ship in the harbour that I’m attending this weekend for work. If the job finished early enough today to get a permit for the 510, this would be a fun drive. We’ll have to see where my service job takes me today.
Good luck, all.

Morning World,

Super smokey this morning, wow, so bad right now. The following weekend looks like rain so I think this is a good opportunity to go for sure. Depending on how hard rain is, this dry ground will sure not be great initially for water run off and potential floods.

Morning World.

Looks to be a wonderful day, nice and warm for the drive.

Not sure all that may come, Alveen not fixed his Toyota yet and not heard from Jamie one way or another. We might see Paul as he just got back from Portugal.

So, we will see whomever at the Chevron, I'm heading out just before 7:00 am. Car is full with fuel and lunch packed.
