Thank you!

Indeed! Prep was more effort than the painting.

Have this spare valve cover and cleaned it up with some Scotch Brite red and steel wool and some polish for the cap. Looking to wrinkle paint/powder coat this one and get a new decal for the cap. Told this is an early Lseries valve cover believe 68-69 510 Lseries or some have told me off a L13 motor since it has no script. Could anyone on here confirm? Tried searching but only see the one with the script that says Datsun 1600 on it. Thanks in advance.

It is grind down, my guess is the DATSUN 1600 that is grinded, you can almost see it. The 1300 don't have the vent tube. My picture is not good but the three on the left should be L-13.

Yeah I am thinking that too. Maybe can look at creating my own script and putting in that space.

Thanks for the info. Good to know. You have a good amount of covers.

I started the 510 the other day, cycling it to 200 F twice before shutting it down.

I had received the rubber exhaust hose I ordered a few weeks ago, so much simpler
plus it ran out the garage door. Way quieter in the garage and car too, no aluminium vibrating on the floor.

Also stopped at Specialty to say hi, BOB's Datsun 1000 coming along beautifully. Andy and Tracey doing their usual clean up and paint on parts. His son Jordan sure looking forward to coming on some drives with us. I suspect car will be done at the end of February.

He had the wheels powder coated and bought some Toyo R888's, so will have some great STICK!

Next start up 3 weeks from now, as it warms up I have a few things to tidy in the engine bay,
then in March/April start looking for tires. I suspect I will have to get from TIRERACK.

WOW...3..!!!!

Yes, a few mods done, 510 wagon rear axle, then of course that gives it bigger rear brakes, hence the 240 finned drums. KYB shocks all around. Not sure what front brakes are.

Corvair 13" wheels with beauty rings.

Yes, Saturn engine..long story....

Love to see some pics of yours, you would be a nice connection for Jordan, he is super enthusiastic about getting this going.

Mine are all in different states of disrepair. One is bone stock and is in the best shape of the three, but still in need of a full restoration.
The other two are both modified and have been ridden hard and put away wet.
Both have front discs from a 1200. Both have engine swaps, one with the A12 and the other with a 12A. Sadly, all are down the list of restoration candidates as I have a number of 510s and D21 trucks that are also in the queue.
Then there's my JDM Nissans...
Too many cars, not enough time, space or money.

I would like to take credit for all of the cars but this is my brother's quonset. He owns the 1200s. I'm the 510 guy and the Hondas/Acuras belong to my nephews. We are a car crazy family.
Brother: 3 1200s and a bunch of Honda/Acura SUVs and trucks.
Nephews: 3-510s, Hondas and Acura NSX(sold his Supra because he had that and the NSX) and Toyotas.
Niece: 350Z and IS250
Myself: 5-510s, 3 1000s, B310/210, HL510, 1990 Bluebird SSS Attesa, 11- D21 pickups ( including a JDM 4-dr turbo diesel, Stagea, Civic, CRV and a smattering of other random vehicles.

Writing that all outπŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Need to get some of these projects done. I bought a house a couple of years ago and now need to build a shop so I don't have to drive an hour to my brother's to get work done.
This is what it looks like at my brother's place πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Well, I am a week away from starting my 510 again, so nothing exciting. What I did do was stop by Specialty to see how the Jordan/Bob Datsun 1000 was coming along.

Looking so good! Almost ready for fire up, lots of small issues have showed up, not unlike any car that has both sat for 30 years and is 55 years old.

Andy could not find a factory drag link, so, in his usual way, found a Datsun 1200 one, cut it, and then had EAGLE MACHINE cut the threads for the sleeve to attach both sides. Eagle Machine has tackled the Bonneville class speed record over time.

https://landspeedproductions.biz/wp-con ... t06NAE.pdf

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Ame ... he%20track.

Andy has also built a header similar to what a Datsun 510 would have benefited by, plus the stainless exhaust.. The engine has a mild cam, Weber 32/36, so all things considered it should make just a little over 100 HP, will be nice in this light car with Super sticky Toyo R888's on there.

It should be running in the next few days I was told and likely out the door by months end.
